Carpinteria Harbor Seal Rookery Area Beach
is CLOSED December 1st through May 31st.
By City Ordinance #470, the Rookery Area Beach is closed
to protect the colony during pupping season.
(extending approximately 750 feet east & west, and 1,000 feet out to sea)
Watch for & respect the Beach Closure Signs.
No people, dogs or bikes allowed between
the Beach Closed signs (see map).
The seals can be viewed (quietly) from the bluff above the rookery which is easily accessible via the Coastal Trail (see map).
Remember the Federal Marine Mammal Protection Act prohibits approaching or disturbing marine mammals all year long.
